What a great watch for $25!
Incredible watch. The whole 1963 line, from the lower end like these to the higher end like the automatic seagal 1963 series are an amazing value. One of the few truly original chinese styled watches readily available to the rest of the world. You can see in the quality that not only are they aware of this they take pride in it. Get these while they are at the level they are now. Unlike many other things you can buy on sites like this you won't regret your purchase. The delivery service they use in my part of the us could be better but that is the only negative out of all the positives.
Thie logistics are very good: ordered on september 27 and received on october 12. The watch build is of greater quality than the price would imply. The all-stainless-steel construction and heft are clear signs of robustness. The round vintage-beige panda dial with silver hands and applied markers are esthetically beautiful. However, the central chrono seconds dial is not red, the black sub-dial at 9 o'clock does not accumulate chrono-seconds but chrono-minutes, and at 3 o'clock is the black 24-hour sub-dial. However, the chronograph functions perfectly well. Also, the stainless-steel mesh bracelet is beautiful and of good quality. The ornamented stainless-steel case-back and signed push/pull crown are unexpected touches. I would have liked a running seconds hand, possibly in an additional sub-dial at 6 o'clock (making this a tricompax rather than a bicompax chronometer). Nevertheless i am satisfied with this product and with the seller.
Getting this watch for under $30 was amazing! This watch looks terrific! The gold numbers and indices, the red chronograph second hand, the blue main hands and subdial hands, and the gold outlined red star all look great. Some of the pictures in the description show the original watch not the actual watch you get. This one has 60 minute totalizer at 9 o'clock and 24 hour time at 3. Some of the pics show 30 minute timer at 3 and hours at 9 with recessed dials. This watch does not have recessed dials but they still look very good. I've seen complaints about the band. It is quite thin and a little stiff, but it works fine and once it's on it feels good. Not scratchy. I haven't seen any fraying in the short time i've had it. If you're considering a 1963 chinese pilot watch, but want a bigger size and (hopefully) better long-term reliability of quartz, don't hesitate to get this. Can't go wrong with this price anyway.
It arrived at last. This watch looks much more expensive than it is. I would never buy the original seagull at 10x the cost when this one is so nice. The strap is a decent nylon strap. The chrono feature works flawlessly so far. It came perfectly aligned. Although it sits tall, it wears comfortably on my medium-sized wrist. I am happy with my purchase.
